If environmental impacts are identified, we develop remediation cost estimates and regulatory approval timelines so you can plan your projects acoordingly and minimize impacts to construction schedules and costs.
We are your advocate. When purchasing or selling a contaminated property, you need to have a strong advocate experienced in negotiation to minimize your current and future risk. Rothman & Associates employs a team of experienced scientists and engineers who understand all aspects of costs and regulations impacting a property, and we make that knowledge work for you. Working with your attorney, we develop strategies to assign degrees of cost and liability consistent with project objectives.

Project Highlights
Troy Laundry Remediation
Identified a previously unknown, widespread chlorinated solvent release within the center of the South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle. Because of the high-profile, high-value nature of the property, completed an intensive series of extremely complex investigations that included coordinating with the previous property owner, project investors,
geotechnical consultants, site general contractor, City of Seattle Department of Transportation, and neighboring property owners and tenants. All work was completed within very tight timeframes and predetermined budget constraints.

Elan Redmond Town Center - Environmental Support
Managed the investigation, cleanup, and regulatory closure of a 1.2-acre property formerly used as an automotive repair facility. Former contaminants of concern included chlorinated solvents, carcinogenic PAHs, metals, diesel, and oil. Conducted initial investigation of soil and groundwater and evaluated source and extent of contamination following building demolition. Prepared the cleanup action plan and soil management plan, oversaw excavation of approximately 2,000 tons of contaminated soil, decommissioned and conducted site assessments of two previously unidentified USTs,
and decommissioned a buried water supply well. Ensured that both the City of Redmond and the Washington State Department of Ecology were confident that the property's land use history resulted in no long-term impacts to the environment, and received a No Further Action determination after removing all contaminated material from
the property.
Mixed-Use Redevelopment - Environmental Support
Managed the hazardous materials assessment, Phase I ESA, Phase II ESA, soil management plan, UST decommissioning and site assessment, and contaminated soil excavation oversight at an assemblage of five former single-family residential parcels that were redeveloped into a mixed-use apartment complex in the University District of Seattle, Washington. As is common throughout the region, each of the residences formerly used/stored heating oil. Diesel from three of the five USTs had leaked into the soil, and an additional release coming from an off-property source exhibited high concentrations of diesel and carcinogenic PAHs. Coordinated closely
with the client and subcontractor to minimize costs associated with soil disposal and to mitigate any impacts to the construction schedule. Despite unanticipated discoveries during field activities, completed all of the work within the original budget contingency and submitted
closure reports to the Washington State
Department of Ecology.

Ms. Rothman demonstrates her leadership capabilities with more than 13 years of professional management experience, including teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses; managing successful proposal efforts for a large non-profit research institution; and managing both technical and corporate departments, projects, and programs at environmental consulting companies.
Ms. Rothman manages high-profile and complex projects, with an emphasis on achieving client objectives as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. Her experience ranges from developing and executing strategic plans, RFP responses, and corporate branding to risk management, cost assessment, and project execution associated with property acquisitions and redevelopment.
